-Serena Williams

These women have broken a lot of stereotypes in opening up the opportunities in their fields for the entire womanhood.
Being fit has nothing to do with losing or gaining weight. It’s the small everyday choices that make a difference. A healthy outside starts from the inside.
ANYBODY CAN DANCE
Fat women can't dance? Who said so? All my life, I have been an over-weight individual. I loved dancing the most. All my life, that's the one thing that has always given me wings. And teenage to adulthood, with all the adipocytes, I eventually left it. The thing that I love doing the most. But finally, after about a break of over ii years, I gave my first stage performance. And then there was no looking back. Post that; I have promised myself, fat or no fat, I am not stopping just because of those extra inches!
COMMUNICATE DOMINATE
Being the only girl in the group of 6 for a presentation, one would wonder how that will go. I was told that my voice would sink in a whirlwind of strong opinionated males. How did I tackle this situation? I let my knowledge do the talking. Not only did my group mates like my points but also, we came second in the class. It was a fun experience! A little step goes a long way!
CAREER COMMITMENTS FIRST
Coming from a relatively conservative family that marries off their daughters by the age of 25, there was quite a lot of pressure on my parents to start looking for eligible grooms. However, I had no such plans of bowing down to the societal norms. I had long discussions with my grandparents about how I wanted to pursue higher studies and achieve something in life and somehow managed to bring them around, or at least put them off my back for some time!
Now whenever someone brings up the topic of marriage, my grandma shuts them up by saying — "She'll get married when she wants to get married!"
MONEY MATTERS
Hasn't money management always been a hassle? Especially when it comes to women, it's always an assumption that they can't tackle financial issues. I always wanted to flip this narrative. Eversince I turned 18, I've been solely responsible for my own finances. Now, my father and grandfather ask for my opinion when it comes to making any investment decisions.
IT'S A FAMILY BUSINESS
It is usually expected of the eldest son of the family to continue the family business. My grandfather has a law firm; when he realized he needed another hand, the first person that came to his mind was me. Despite what people around him said, he believed in me. He appreciated the changes I brought to the firm. I owe it to him for being my strength and helping me break the age-old stereotypes of how only sons can continue the family business.
BLOODY DIFFICULT WOMEN
I find it amusing how women come up with excuses for being unwell rather than revealing that she is on her periods" and rather make it look like she is suffering from some hidden disease. My embarrassing moment dates back to my school days when I openly told my cousin brothers that "I'm on my periods. That is when the older women in my family tried to school her on the so-called norm of not talking about periods in public or around men.
THE WHEEL IS YOURS
In the year wiz, it wasn't likely that you'd see a lot of women drivers around. In the small town that I belonged to, no-one encouraged women to drive around the area. I requested my father to teach me how to drive and within 2-3 weeks, I was driving like a pro. Even though my whole family was supportive of me, this whole process wasn't hassle free; people gave we weird looks, comments and made me feel underconfident of my driving skills. Cut to now, look at majority of the girls in my town taking control of the wheel!
GASLIGHTING IS A BIG NO
Women face gaslighting all the time, and it isn't casual and shouldn't be taken as one. We know when you're covertly putting us down and trying to deflate us. As women, we instinctively know someone's true self, even when they try to camouflage with illusionary behavior! People who side with your abuser and shift the blame on you are no different from your abuser. Toxic is toxic, even by proxy!
STRONG WOMEN BUILD STRONGER NATIONS
While pursuing mechanical engineering, I ended up breaking a lot of stereotypes against women. I worked on a project on designing and fabricating a fuel-efficient vehicle. In a country that hasn't gotten used to women driving vehicles, building one is far from the norm. I visited markets and shops in the weirdest parts of Delhi and was often told to send the guy from the team for such works and not come on my own.
FOLLOW YOUR OWN PASSION!
As per the societal norms, Mechanical is 'not meant for girls' as it involves a lot of physically straining labs, and even the job prospects are also narrow. Some people even advised me to change to other branches with more girls. Being a girl, choosing Mechanical engineering, I feel, is one of the boldest steps I have taken. My parents have been very supportive of my choice. I thoroughly enjoyed my entire B. Tech (Mechanical) journey and I am a proud 'Girl Mechanical Engineer' forever!
